Social Bowling Scramble |
| Welcome to a new club
event, the social bowling scramble. The scramble will enable members to get
together in a friendly but competitive way and learn from each other without
the pressures of league and cup competitions. There is also the chance to
win some money |
| Starting in March and
finishing in September, the scrambles will be every Saturday, except when
the green is required for competitions and visitors. Sign in at 10:30 and
play starts at 11:00 with a 1/2 hour lunch break and finish at 4:00 p.m. |
| The format is
doubles. Players shall draw an entry number for that day and play 3 rounds
of 16 ends or 4 rounds of 12 ends with different partners each round. Each
player has 3 or 4 leads with the jack per round, order of lead to be decided
by the toss of a coin. The first and second highest aggregate scores shall
determine the winners of the prize money. To maintain maximum participation
of players there will be no final of the 4 highest scoring players. Ties
will be resolved over 4 ends with 2 leads of the jack per player and then if
still tied, "sudden death" with the winner of the 4th end retaining the jack
lead. |
| All levels of club
membership will be eligible to participate. Guests are to be encouraged to
take part, but they must be signed in and pay the green fees. Guests will be
limited to 3 scrambles. |
| The entry fee for the
scramble will be £1, payable on the day. The first and second highest
aggregate shall be awarded 55% and 30% of the total entry fees for the day.
The balance of 15% shall be retained for the super scramble and costs, e.g.
for 20 entries the prizes shall be £11 and £6 |
| A schedule for dates
will be posted at the beginning of the season and each scramble date
confirmed 1 week before. |
| At the end of the
season a "Super Scramble" will take place with increased prize money, a
buffet lunch and increased prize money. To qualify for this event players
must have played in a minimum of 6 scrambles. |
| So, give it a try, you
may learn something and if you know it already, let the rest of us have the
benefit of your knowledge and talents. The organiser welcomes constructive
comment and assistance. |
